Continuing in this series of posts for readers who like a glimpse behind the scenes and for author’s considering investing in similar ventures, Part 3 focuses on how I made the most of my 4 days down-time between the Melbourne and Gold Coast events.

I want to put it on the record that the Reading Matters Conference (June 1-4th) and the Regional Tour of Victoria (June 5th-7th) was completely and utterly brilliant. I felt so incredibly honoured to be invited to speak by State Library Victoria, star struck by the authors in attendance, inspired by the keynote addresses and “at home” with my people: writers/readers/book lovers.

My 6 days in Auckland were jam-packed with visits, meetings and events. I visited 6 schools, delivered 8 talks, lunched with booksellers, attended the New Zealand Book Industry Awards and had a lovely catch up with some author friends.
