I have just returned from the National Writers Forum 2018, where several hundreds of NZ authors gathered for a weekend of keynote speeches, lectures and workshops, a book launch and many wonderful chats over drinks and lunchables. There are so many highlights I’m not sure where to begin.

I had the privilege of joining three brilliant NZ authors, Raymond Huber, Raymond McGrath and Kelly Wilson (wild horse taming extraordinaire) on the September Storylines Tour of Auckland. Over the week, we visited 53 schools, libraries and venues, engaging with over 6246 students and adults. Phew! What a whirlwind of events. It was completely exhausting and completely wonderful all at the same time.

It was an exciting day for snail mail on May 19th! When I arrived home from work I found a courier package waiting for me from my publisher, the ARC (Advance Reading Copy). I think Amy Daoud has somehow managed to make the ARC cover as alluring and mysterious as the final print cover that will be released in November! Check out those claw marks.

My new novel is set to hit the shelves in November this year and I can’t wait for y’all to read it. In the meantime here is the utterly gorgeous cover art, designed by the brilliant Amy Daoud. She designed the covers for Spark, Stray and Shield and she has yet again blown me away with her incredible design concept.

I want to put it on the record that the Reading Matters Conference (June 1-4th) and the Regional Tour of Victoria (June 5th-7th) was completely and utterly brilliant. I felt so incredibly honoured to be invited to speak by State Library Victoria, star struck by the authors in attendance, inspired by the keynote addresses and “at home” with my people: writers/readers/book lovers.
